crocheted gloves

These are not my recent project. I made these gloves last year by referring to a video posted by Teresa on youtube. click here for the link of the video. Enjoy some pictures~

I gave this purple gloves to my sister. At first, I've crocheted a flower and put it on the left glove only, but my sister insisted on having flowers on both of them! Though I felt that would be a lil bit too much, I agreed to make another flower for her. surprisingly, the gloves look very cute with 2 flowers! (the picture was taken before another flower was made)

These gloves are slightly bigger than the purple gloves above. The pattern is still the same with the one above but is slightly bigger in size. The written pattern could be found here. I gave this one to my dear friend and I'm glad that my friend likes them!

cable vest

This vest is indeed my biggest project on crochet so far. I got the fabulous pattern from here. I started the project early this year and was stuck in the middle of my working due to having not enough yarn. Finally, the vest is finished in April! The vest has a knit look pattern which I like most! I've been wanting to learn knitting but haven't really got the chance to do so. InsyaAllah, I'll learn knitting one day!

this vest is rich in texture. There are skinny cables at the bottom, and X cables on top. I struggled with the pattern a lil bit since this is my first time crocheting something big. I also need to change the gauge by reducing the number of rows and stitches because the pattern use 4 ply yarn but I used 8 ply yarns instead. It was very challenging yet fun!

the most exciting part in making this vest is making the large cable with twist. I love cable pattern a lot and now that I know how to make it, I'm sure I'll be making it again and again!

I used 17 balls of these yarns: Cleckheaton Country Paintbox 8 ply, 100% wool, machine washable

There are also videos posted on youtube about how to crochet cable pattern. do check if you are interested!

*I hope the owner of this vest like it! Thanks for your patience:-)

happy crafting everyone!

small clothes:-)

yeayy!! look at this picture!

aren't they cute? (^_^)

this is the end product....

I started the project at 8.00 pm last night and finished it just before noon today. what an achievement! I got my lil sister to thank for since she helped me to sew buttons on each of the small clothes that I made. As a reward, I paid her RM 5.00..(RM 0.20 per button). She was so happy and started showing off that money to my lil brother who then began asking money for every cups of coffee he has made for me all this while. He asked for RM 1.00 per cup!! That's a lot! I guess he would be able to collect more than RM 50.00 if I agree to pay him that money since he made me coffee almost every night! how about you? do you need coffee to stay alive after midnight?

happy crafting~

pencil case

My cousin has asked me to crochet a slim pencil case for her. here it is~

The original plan was to crochet one lady bug on each side of the pencil case. However, after stitching the lady bug on left, I could feel that the orientation is a bit awkward. Hence, I got to neutralise it by adding one more lady bug on right...hehe..two is better than one, right?

I made a name keychain for her too. It could also be used as a bookmark if she wants to...

more photos...

The back view

This stitch is called basket weave stitch. isn't it beautiful? I like it so much! If you wish to learn more about it, go and check this youtube video (link) I'm sure you'll fall in love with it~

The inside view-I lined the pencil case with cute cotton fabric :-)

happy crocheting everyone!

Tutorial: how to crochet alphabet

This is a tutorial on how to crochet words/name/alphabets on your crochet project

Materials I'm using:
3.00 mm crochet hook
red and yellow yarns

First of all, draft the word on a graft paper, taking into account the spaces between alphabets. Please bear in mind that a single box represent 1 double crochet. (To get an accurate draft, we should draw on skinnier boxes) In this tutorial, I'm going to crochet the word 'AWIE' and my working would begin with 'E'. The arrow shows my starting point. Note that the base of 'E' consists of 7 boxes, hence 7 double crochet

step 1: double crochet as usual. At one point, wrap the yarn over, pull the yarn through 1 loop and leave another 2 loops. This is the starting point where I'm going to change yarn colour and begin crocheting the first row of 'E'.

Step 2: grab a strand of yellow yarn and pull the string through the 2 section. Tie a knot between the short yellow strand and the long red strand to secure.

step 3: double crochet. Keep the long red strand underneath the yellow strand. The red strand would be trapped inside the double crochet of yellow yarn.

step 4: 6 double crochet. wrap the yarn over, pull the yarn through 1 loop and leave another 2 loops. Now that the first row of 'E' has finished, we would change colour to red(space). Repeat step 1.

step 5: repeat step 2

keep on repeating step 1 and 2 until the first row of 'AWIE' is finished.

Repeat step 1 and 2 for the rest of row 2,3,4, and 5

done!!!!!

to crochet names on kopiah, we should turn the draft paper upside down and begin working with 'A' instead of 'E'. The yellow arrow shows our starting point.

happy crocheting everyone!
